Better Streets Chicago Action Fund Endorses Nick Uniejewski for State Senate
Transit and safe-streets advocacy group backs Uniejewski over incumbent in the 6th District.
Chicago, IL – Better Streets Chicago Action Fund has endorsed Nick Uniejewski for Illinois State Senate in the 6th District, backing Uniejewski over the incumbent in recognition of his organizing roots, daily reliance on biking and public transit, and commitment to people-first transportation policy.
“I’m thrilled to earn the endorsement of Better Streets Chicago Action Fund,” said Nick Uniejewski. “I bike every day and rely on the CTA, so I see firsthand how essential our transportation systems are—and how urgently they need to be updated for the future ahead. We need concrete, protected bike lanes and transit that is fast, safe, and reliable. As State Senator, I’ll fight for statewide solutions that put people first, not cars.”
Uniejewski has been a consistent advocate for transit riders and safer streets, calling for dedicated bus lanes on DuSable Lake Shore Drive, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) on state-controlled corridors, and stronger coordination between IDOT, CDOT, and local communities.
“Nick Uniejewski is an organizer at his core, and that shows up in how he approaches public policy,” said Alex Nelson, Senior Advisor with Better Streets Chicago Action Fund. “We trust Nick to be a stronger fighter in the State Senate, not just for the 6th District, but statewide—someone who will work to modernize public transit and ensure the people who rely on transit the most have a seat at the table.”
Uniejewski’s campaign is rooted in grassroots organizing, with more than 50,000 doors knocked and hundreds of community salons focused on turning lived experience into policy.
The Democratic Primary is March 17.
