Knock, Knock. Who’s There? It’s Nick!

There are 70 days until Election Day. And we’re kicking off 2026 the exact way we plan to win this race: by knocking on doors and talking with voters, everywhere, all the time.

This past week, something different kept happening. People opened the door and said, “Oh hey—I remember you.”

  • In Roscoe Village, neighbors recognized me from past conversations at their doors (and yes—also from their Ring doorbells). We talked about the kind of government people actually want: leaders who aren’t bought by corporate money, and who keep showing up even when there isn’t an election right around the corner.

  • In Buena Park, it was the same story—familiar faces and real relationships. We talked about the urgent need to build more housing and make it affordable so people can live in our neighborhoods and stay here.

  • And in Lakeview, neighbors remembered our past conversations as we talked about not just funding public transit, but bringing it into the future—like creating a bus lane on Lake Shore Drive and making it safer to bike around the city year-round.

One conversation this weekend really stuck with me.

I spoke with a man I first met months ago who’s now facing eviction. He told me how much it meant that I stayed in touch and helped connect him with city and state resources—so he can keep looking for work while staying housed as he searches for a longer-term solution.

That’s what year-round organizing looks like.

It’s not flying in a few months before Election Day when it’s convenient. It’s building trust over time, showing up consistently, and treating people like neighbors—not data points. That’s who I am, and that’s exactly how I’ll govern as your State Senator.

But here’s the truth:

We’re running against a corporate Democrat with a big war chest. And the only way we win is by out-organizing them.

With 70 days to go, we need to fuel a people-powered field operation so you keep seeing our volunteers—and me—on your doorstep, in your mailbox, and on your phone.

And if you’re interested in volunteering with us, sign up today!
