WATCH: Our Second Ad

We just launched our second ad—and for the first time since 1972, voters in this district have a real choice for State Senate.

In Illinois, we have a full Democratic supermajority. We have a majority in the House and the Senate. We have a great governor. But our legislature must do more for our people.

It’s not that we need more Democrats in Springfield—we just need better ones.

And here’s what that looks like to me:

  • Housing: We need to make it possible for people to live and stay in the communities they love. That means statewide zoning reform to legalize different types of housing like coach houses and four-flats, setting predictable formulas for property taxes and ballooning rents, and reforming outdated construction codes on things like staircases and elevators so it’s easier and cheaper to build.

  • Transit: More people here take transit to work than anywhere else in Illinois—yet our system has been neglected for decades. With new state transit funding, we have an obligation to deliver reliable service, universalized fares, and a rider-first system. I’ll fight for long-term funding that modernizes transit and connects every neighborhood.

  • Reforming Government: Our politics won’t change until we change who it’s accountable to. Unlike my opponent, I’m not taking a dime of corporate money. I’ll fight to end pay-to-play politics, enact term limits, push for public financing of campaigns, and make government responsive to communities—not insiders.

  • On ICE: I’ll work alongside our federal delegation to abolish ICE. At the state level, I support banning Illinois and local governments from contracting with federal immigration detention, prohibiting ICE agents from holding state employment, requiring visible badges and nameplates, and mirroring proposals that allow Illinois to withhold certain state-controlled payments if the federal government unlawfully withholds funds from our state.

This is a moment that demands urgency and courage. We need a better Democrat in the 6th District ready to meet the urgency of this moment.

With just 20 days until March 17, we have a real choice about our future.
