Fighting for better public transit

Nick speaks to folks seated at a table

I don’t own a car. I bike and I take transit — every day.

And like a lot of people in our district, I’m tired of watching our public transit system fall apart.

When I commuted to Loyola in college (Go ‘Blers), it took over 2.5 hours each way — not because of distance, but because the CTA and Metra are disconnected, delayed, and underfunded. Today, I still rely on transit. But if I want to visit my parents in the suburbs on the weekend? I usually can’t. The Metra doesn’t even run there.

This is what happens when the people in power don’t ride the system — they don’t care about it, and they don’t fight with any urgency to fix it.

We’re now facing a fiscal cliff that could force massive service cuts, price hikes, and even fewer options for the people who rely on transit the most.

I’m running for State Senate because I refuse to accept that outcome. I’m running because we can do better — but only if we act.

I’m calling on everybody: riders, students, workers, and neighbors to raise their voices. You know the system doesn’t work — and I know you’re ready to fix it.

We need:

  • A transit system that connects the region and all our neighborhoods

  • Clean, safe, fast, and frequent service

  • Unified leadership and stable, smart funding

But none of this will happen if we stay quiet.

Take 2 minutes today to show you're ready to fight for better transit:
