Yet Another Super PAC jumps in to rescue an out-of-touch incumbent.

Smily Nick holds a sign that says "I love my neighbors!"

For the first time in over 50 years, voters in our State Senate district finally have a real choice. Over the past year, we’ve built something extraordinary together—a 100% grassroots campaign powered by people like you.

But in these final days, the establishment is moving heaven and earth to stop us.

A second SuperPAC—Common Ground Collective—has now jumped into this race. And they’re not alone. Another SuperPAC, American Future, funded by DraftKings, is already spending here.

That means voters across the district are now getting waves of glossy mailers and seeing misleading ads online from outside groups trying to drown out our campaign. And it doesn’t stop there.

People are also getting mailers from the Democratic Party of Illinois itself, which has decided to intervene in this primary to protect the status quo.

Instead of encouraging participation in the first contested primary in this district in over 50 years, the party establishment is flooding mailboxes and airwaves trying to shut out the grassroots movement we’ve built together.

They don’t want new voices in the process. They don’t want people challenging entrenched power. They want politics to keep working exactly the way it always has.

I refuse to accept that.

A lot of this money traces back to powerful donors trying to protect that system.

Chicago billionaire Michael Sacks already maxed out with a $7,300 contribution to our incumbent State Senator—who has over $1.5 million in the bank.

But that wasn’t enough.

Sacks then poured over $1.6 million into his Super PAC, Common Ground Collective—including half a million dollars of his own money and additional funds routed from an affiliated nonprofit—to influence a handful of state legislative races like ours.

Think about that.

A billionaire who doesn’t even live in this district is spending enormous sums of money trying to influence who represents you in Springfield. I believe that’s wrong.

I believe the Democratic Party should answer to people, not its biggest donors. Not corporations that want to keep things exactly the way they are.

And that belief has guided our campaign from day one.

We didn’t build this campaign with Super PACs or billionaires. We built it door by door, conversation by conversation, neighbor by neighbor. Together, we have:

  • Knocked on over 75,000 doors in every neighborhood across the 6th District

  • Hosted more than 250 community salons about housing, health care, and transit in living rooms, dive bars, and along the lakefront

  • Built a coalition of neighbors and organizers who believe we can do better that includes Better Streets Chicago Action Fund, Indivisible Lincoln Square, Sunrise Movement Chicago, and the Chicago Tribune

Because while the political establishment floods the airwaves with attack ads, the issues people care about are still right in front of us.

The cost of housing keeps climbing.

People are struggling to afford basic prescriptions.

Our transit system needs serious investment.

And we need to fight even harder against the evil, hateful policies coming from the federal government.

I’ve never stopped organizing to tackle these challenges—from fighting to protect abortion rights in Illinois, to reforming social services in city government and supporting violence prevention programs.

That’s exactly what I want to do as your next State Senator. But with seven days left, we need one final push.

  • Vote: Early voting is open now and Election Day is March 17—make a plan and cast your ballot. I’m the first name you’ll see for State Senator!

  • Volunteer: We’re knocking doors and reaching voters every day. Even an hour helps.

  • Donate: We’ve saved our resources to make a final push, but we need your help to fund the texts, calls, and outreach that will turn out our supporters.

Because while billionaires and SuperPACs are trying to buy this seat, our campaign has always been powered by people. Seven days from now, we have the chance to do something historic.
